In 1992, cooking fires caused over 100,000 home fires resulting in nearly 300 deaths and over 5,000 injuries. To educate the public about the importance of safer cooking AHAM and the National Association of State Fire Marshalls studied behaviors linked to cooking fires. If your young people have a difficult time using chopsticks, they may try to wad soft paper, like a napkin, between the sticks at one end wrapping together with a rubber band and use the other end to pick up the food.
