Organization of 4-H FCS Curriculum Committee

PURPOSE:
To provide input on policies, programs and curriculum in order to increase the
enrollment in projects, the participation in activities, and the knowledge,
attitudes, and skills of young people in all areas of family and consumer 
sciences.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Review family and consumer sciences-related curriculum suitable for the 4-H 
   program and outside materials that can be used as program resources.

2. Evaluate and give input on rules and regulations for family and consumer 
   sciences  related contests, curriculum, and management of program.

3. Secure input from agents and leaders in their region upon which adequate
   decisions can be made about curricula, contests, and program and report on
   decisions made at regional meetings and in minutes on PENpages.

4. Consult with each other and discuss program, curricula and contest concerns
   in order to reach decisions that will benefit the program.

5. To suggest in-service offerings.

6. To meet with and suggest other family and consumer sciences-related faculty 
   who could assist with curriculum development and program planning for youth.

7. Solicit and review proposals that will improve the program.

TIME REQUIREMENTS-CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
1. Meet once or twice a year at University Park with follow-up emails.
2. Minutes provided on the Web site.

TIME REQUIREMENTS-SUBCOMMITTEES
1. Fashion Revue meets once in the spring and then the afternoon before and
   immediately after the state fashion revue.  The equivalent of 10 agents/
   leaders must attend the planning meeting and are involved from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
   on the day of the revue.  Each committee member serves a two-year term.  
   Counties pay own mileage.

2. Changes in rules or organization of contest committees need to be provided
   by August 30 to Jan Scholl so she can inform the faculty and revise
   any documents before the fall Regional Director's meeting.

The curriculum committee minutes and other 4-H family and consumer sciences 
program resources will be posted on the Web site.
