Fashion Revue Minutes
Spring 2002

The State Fashion 4-H Revue meeting was held in 301A Ag Admin Building, University Park on March 27, 2002.

Present: Wanda Braymer, Debra Gregory, Lee Hoar, Marg Malehorn, Amy Murphy, Dawn Olson, Cheryl Sheets, and Jan Scholl

Absent: Phyllis Laufer and Joann Logan

Jan Scholl opened the meeting with a discussion of comments and concerns about the 2001 State Fashion Revue.

The group decided to increase the Honors Group to 12 participants (recognized in no particular order) in order to give awards to 20 percent of the 4-H members. Also, changed for 2002, the top three individuals will be recognized as first, second and third with plaques given to the three individuals.

This year's theme is "Century of Fashion" and the group suggested the stage have the Power of Youth Seal as part of the decoration. Jan will work with the stage crew to see what is possible.

For future years, several other themes were suggested, including: Cycles of Fashion, Sewing Power, Rainbow of Fashion, Fashion in Motion, It's Raining Fashion. The group decided to ask that the young people provide themes on their participant form.

Several changes were made to the participant form so that it would fit better on a two-page handout for 4-H'ers to complete. Also, in the State Fashion Revue Rules, rule 5 relating to the National 4-H Congress, was deleted since the National Fashion Revue no longer exists, and the specification of the awards as indicated above was added. These changes will be made to the rules listing that is located on the 4-H FCS Web site as soon as possible.

Jan shared the suggestions for workshop ideas from last year's event and the committee discussed possible ideas: Creative memories, leadership skills, accessorizing, color, jewelry making, how to pack luggage, wardrobe planning, community service workshop, fabric design, Miss PA or local pageant winner, and a workshop with Claudia Mincemoyer. Each presenter needs to make six presentations. Wanda Braymer will prepare a tin punch craft this year. Lee Hoar will organize stress-reducing activities for the break sessions.
