State Fashion Revue Committee Minutes
Spring 2001

The State Fashion Revue Committee met April 4, 2001 in Room 228 Ag Admin Building. Present were Wanda Braymer and Cheryl Sheets from the NW region, Lee Hoar (Susquehanna), Deb Rowan (Central Region), Carolyn Wissenbach (SW PA), Mary Ann Oyler and Katina Showman from the Capital Region and Phyllis Laufer from the Southeast Region.

We reviewed the evaluations which are now on the Web and reviewed the schedule.

This year's theme is Garden of Fashion.

The 2002 theme is Rainbow of Fashion (with umbrellas as a design theme). Other themes discussed were: Colors of Fashion, Down on the Farm, Fun in the Sun, On-line Fashions, and Fashion Center Stage.

There will be four classes this year; one will be included in the break: Craft (taught by Wanda Braymer which is a 4-H pin made from beads and safety pins), Games (Lee Hoar), Color Workshop (Mary B. Wheeler School of Design), Flower Arranging either fresh or dried or silk, and perhaps Fashion Illustration taught by a 4-H member. For next year, maybe there could be an activity that we could use sewing machines or have a sewing machine update by a local dealer or have someone bring in second hand clothing in order to put together an outfit.

Committee Members will take on the following responsibilities:

Chair, Katina Showman
Co-chair and Judging-Mary Ann Oyler
Stage Manager-Carolyn Wissenbach
Narrations-Phyllis Laufer
Tabulation-Deb Rowan and Dawn Olson
Program-Cheryl Sheets
Craft Program-Wanda Braymer
Games Program - Lee Hoar

The committee also reviewed the rules, discussed the need to check the hotel name, bring separate food for the judges so they don't have to wait for the food to be brought in. The group would like to see more modeling tips, perhaps several youth on the stage at the same time, and a finale of some type from the choreographer.

The narrators this year come from: Northeast North, Northwest, and Central region. If you are unable to find one, please let Jan know as some of the other counties have narrators that can fill in.

Thanks to all that serve on state, regional and county review committees and support the program. You are greatly appreciated!!

The next committee meeting is July 24, 2001 in the lobby of Eisenhower Auditorium. Please made a note on your calendar. July 25 is the event from 7 AM to 10 PM, so bring comfortable shoes and a sweater! Lunch will be provided. Also check over your job descriptions several times throughout the interim to make sure you are on target. E-mail Jan with any concerns and questions.
