Regional Fashion Revue Chair Checklist
Dear Regional Fashion Revue Chair:
This letter relates to the 2008 Fashion Revue program. Within the letter is a checklist.
Make sure you read each of these documents carefully and provide the necessary information to both agents and members.
Checklist to go through BEFORE you go to the Regional Fashion Revue and once again BEFORE you send in your materials. The deadline for all forms in July 10, 2008. The date of the state revue is August 6, 2008.
____ 1. Read the State Fashion Revue Rules and Regulations carefully, especially the section on dress. 4-H members who model swim suits, etc., (see rules) cannot be selected as regional winners going to state.
____ 2. Make sure you have your regional quotas, copies of score sheets, and notified counties of the 2008 participant forms.
____ 3. Regional revue ribbons are ordered by May 1 to Jan Scholl. The bill for the ribbons will be sent with your order. (After May 1, we cannot guarantee delivery.) Double check that you have the ribbons two weeks in advance.
____ 4. Schedule your regional revue early enough that the regional winners' counties can register the Fashion Revue contestants on time and with the rest of their county delegation.
____ 5. Check to see on Form 1 if your region needs to send a narrator.
____ 6. All the forms that are sent to the state office are complete and will arrive NO LATER than July 5 at 5:00 p.m. These forms include:____ 7. Make sure counties know who their winners are and who will be attending the State Revue. (Be sure to ask members at the regional revue who will be attending). Jan Scholl cannot register members for housing or manage health forms. Registration is due July 10, so do this as soon as possible.
- All participant forms for selected representatives, and two alternates (clearly marked).
- Form 1: Be sure to indicate if 4-H members have scheduled for other contests.
____ 8. 100-word (only) narrations are typed, in addition to those on the forms, and are sent to Jan Scholl, 2B Ferguson Building, University Park, PA 16802-2601, NO LATER than July 10 at 5:00 p.m. The 4-H member's score is affected by late, incorrect, and inaccurate information.
____ 9. A copy of Form 1 and all the participant forms sent to Jan Scholl NO LATER than July 10 at 5:00 p.m.
____10. Notify counties of winners so that they may register with their county by the July 10 deadline.
____11. Keep copies of all forms sent. If you are going to be out of town after your regional revue, make sure your staff assistant has the copies at hand.
____12. Make sure state participants receive the:
- Participant's Letter
- State Fashion Revue Schedule
- State Fashion Revue Rules and Regulations
____13. Make sure any state narrator receives the:
- Narrator's Letter
- State Fashion Revue Schedule
Fashion Revue Forms
If you use a participant form different from the state form, be sure your members complete a state form and bring the necessary pictures, swatches, pattern, fabric information, and cost with them to the regional revue. Do not allow 4-H members to complete old forms or to take forms home with them after the regional revue. If you are worried they may not bring a photo, be sure to borrow or rent a Polaroid camera for the event. Inaccurate, incomplete, or late forms will be penalized.
Score Sheets
With your ribbon order request, sample score sheets will be sent in May. Score sheets will be mailed to you as a result of your order.
Feel free to change the score sheets to meet the needs of your regional contest.Fashion Revue Quotas
The fashion revue quotas for the regional revues are based on the enrollment of 4-H members in textile science projects during the previous year. There is a formula to calculate the quotas. While quotas may vary from year to year, they generally remain fairly stable.
When regions merge, they may combine quotas for the year. If they have divided, contact Jan Scholl before January 1 if you plan to divide the quotas among the counties.Narrators
Narrators may be selected as delegates who are alternates, youth interested in becoming a narrator, or a chaperone. They should be able to read distinctly and project their voice. They cannot be a state fashion revue participant.
If you are not a region that was selected, but you do have someone in mind who would be excellent, contact Jan Scholl at the state office. There may be a region having difficulty locating someone. Thank you. (For 2008 - Capital, Central, Northeast)Other Information
We have less conflict and problems if the scores are removed from the left side of the score sheet and the comments read BEFORE the score sheets are returned to the participants.
Be conscious that boys are a big part of the textile science and fashion revue programs, let your comments reflect this. (For example, "We are proud of the boys and girls that are a part of this revue.")
It may be unwise to announce 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (or whatever place winners) or those who win a trip to state. We have found that members usually do better if they are announced in no particular order and if the alternates are announced separately. ONCE THE WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED AND GROUP IS GATHERED FOR PICTURES, GIVE THEM COPIES OF THE PARTICIPANT LETTER, RULES, ETC. LET THEM KNOW THE DATE OF THE REVUE AND ASK THEM IF THEY WILL BE COMING. THAT WAY YOU CAN GET AN ACCURATE RECORD FOR FORM 1. Also, make a note to tell the agent if a 4-H member is not coming to the State Fashion Revue if the agent is not present at the regional revue. If there is a case of extreme financial difficulty for a 4-H member to attend, please notify Jan Scholl immediately.
If there is a problem or conflict on the regional level with any state rule, please inform me. I would be glad to call the leader or parent or to assist you in any way I can.
